MEET THE illustrator

Justin Weber

Justin Weber is an illustrator, animator, and yo-yo performer based in Brooklyn, New York. His style is an imaginative blend of whimsy, fantasy, and childlike wonder—often influenced by Japanese themes and aesthetics. As a teen, while being a sponsored yo-yo competitor for Yomega, he toured with Bandai performing in Tokyo and Osaka. His passion for interacting with Japan grew, and he completed two study abroads in Kobe and Fukuoka through University of Delaware. After earning a degree in visual communications with a minor in Japanese language and culture, he completed an internship at New York's Japan Society, and relocated to Brooklyn where he has since developed a decade-long creative freelance career. His illustrations can be found in printed books for Storymakers NYC and his animation and performance work appears in Meet Cute in Manhattan, MTV’s Amazingness, and Go Big Show on TBS. He continues to visit Japan and has been honored to use his experiences there to bring this story to life.
